Facebook gets into the online dating business

Facebook announced today they are building a new privacy control called "clear history" to allow users to delete browsing history.

British lawmakers may issue a summons ordering Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg to answer questions before Parliament about the Cambridge Analytica data scandal, the chair of U.K. House of Commons' Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee said Tuesday.

While the firestorm over the data privacy scandal has subsided for the most part, Facebook, Inc.

Geoff Blaber, vice president of research and market analysis firm CCS Insight, says that by leading off the conference with a focus on security and privacy, but pledging the only way to overcome those challenges is to continue to build services, Zuckerberg successfully "walked the tightrope".

"This is going to be for building real, long-term relationships-not just for hookups", Zuckerberg said during the conference, according to The Verge.

Speaking in San Jose, California, at the F8 gathering of software developers, tech folks and others, Zuckerberg said to cheers that the company is re-opening app reviews, the process that gets new and updated apps on its services.

The tool will let people build separate profiles just for dating using their first names only.

Alder Hey issued an open letter Wednesday saying its staff had experienced a barrage of "unprecedented personal abuse". Pope Francis tweeted about the case and met with Evans to discuss the boy.

Despite the negative publicity endured by Facebook in recent weeks, shares in Match Group Inc, the owner of popular dating app Tinder, fell more than 18% in the wake of Tuesday's announcement.

To get to the dating feature, you'll simply tap the heart icon in the top right corner of your Facebook profile.

Zuckerberg also thanked Jan Koum, the departing co-founder of the Facebook-owned messaging service WhatsApp, who announced his resignation on Monday after the Washington Post published a story that he was leaving the company after clashing with management over privacy, encryption and strategy.

Once the update is rolled out to users, they will also be able to see information about the apps and websites they've interacted with that use Facebook's ads and analytics tools. Users will also be able to directly share action shots from their GoPro action-camera apps.

Facebook also made the surprise announcement that its portable VR headset - Oculus Go - would go on sale in the USA on Tuesday, priced $199 (£146). Facebook is counting on the Oculus Go to widen the audience for VR. There are 200 million people who have marked themselves as single on Facebook, he said. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the company's plan to make the headset six months ago. It could be that Facebook has something brand new in mind.

This is a live news event. Augmented reality combines virtual images with real-world ones, instead of encompassing users in a completely simulated environment. "The hard part was figuring out how to move forward on everything else we need to do too".
