Abbas: Jews to blame for Shoah

Emily Thornberry, the UK Labour party's shadow foreign secretary.

Abbas spoke in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Monday at a gathering of the Palestinian legislative body, where he said Jews brought the Holocaust and other persecution upon themselves due to their "social roles related to taxes and banks". "And those are Ashkenazi Jews, which means they are not Semitic and have no relation to Semitism and have nothing to do with the prophets Abraham or Jacob".

Croatian police have arrested a Bosnian citizen who may be extradited to Tunisia over his alleged involvement in the killing.

On Wednesday, the European Jewish Congress called on European leaders and officials to cease all contact with the Palestinian leader until he apologizes for his outrageous anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial.

Abbas, elected to a four-year term in 2005 but who has remained in office in the absence of fresh elections, had not responded to the condemnations.

"The speech Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas delivered on 30 April contained unacceptable remarks concerning the origins of the Holocaust and Israel's legitimacy", a spokesman for the EU's diplomatic service said in a statement.

"Yad Vashem also rebuffed Abbas' claim that a transfer agreement between the Jewish Agency and the German Nazi government, allowing some German Jews emigrating to pre-State Palestine to recover some of the money they left behind, constituted Nazi support for Zionism". The Jewish community held a series of street protests in response, demanding Corbyn take serious action on the issue.

Setting up the account for each child will give parents the option of setting limits to what videos can be displayed and played. There are also plenty of reasons to be wary of apps like Messenger Kids and YouTube Kids .

The speech has been criticized as anti-Semitic by various political figures in Israel, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, the European Union and Germany, among others.

The Palestinian leader is known for a sordid history of Holocaust denial, receiving his doctorate based on a dissertation that asserted the claim that six million Jews died in the Holocaust was a gross exaggeration.

US Jewish groups unanimously joined in the condemnation.

Calling Donald Trump's cut of aid to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) "cruel and spiteful", Thornberry vowed that a "Labour government would host an global funding conference to address the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people". In the speech, which Abbas described as a "history lesson" - he said that the "social function" of the Jews of Europe (specifically "usury and banking and such") was what led to the animosity that fueled their extermination.

Left-wing lobby J Street stated, "There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of incendiary rhetoric".

"President Abbas has shown a commitment to non-violence and a two-state solution", Burt said in a statement.
