Almost 3 million Pennsylvanians impacted by Facebook privacy breach

The move to demand answers from Facebook is the latest in a series of moves by the attorney general to hold companies accountable for putting Pennsylvanian's personal information at risk.

Asked by Canadian lawmakers about how the closure of the businesses would affect the investigation and any possible sanctions, Damian Collins, the chairman of the digital, culture, media and sport committee, said: "It doesn't change our inquiry at all".

Prince who is the founder of the private military contractor, Blackwater, and is the brother-in-law of Education Secretry Betsy Devos, is a known Trump supporter with ties to the super PAC which paid for Cambridge Analytica's work on behalf of the Trump campaign. Collins told Sky News that company leaders will "be in for a nasty surprise" if they think shutting Cambridge Analytica will make it possible to erase the data that prompted the investigation.

"As a result, it has been determined that it is no longer viable to continue operating the business", the statement claims.

"Social media users don't expect to have their information given to third-party developers without their knowledge", Shapiro said in a statement Thursday.

Facebook's audit of the firm has been suspended while United Kingdom regulators conduct their own probe. Facebook has over 20 crore users in India. More details could emerge when Cambridge Analytica files for bankruptcy protection in NY, as planned.

Cambridge Analytica did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The firm was accused of improperly obtaining personal information on behalf of political clients.

Scientists in shock as NASA junks first-ever robotic mission to Moon
Known as the Resource Prospector (RP), this robotic rover was under development for over a decade, notes a report by PhysOrg. Materials could also hold important clues about the moon and space, said the scientists.

Alexander Nix, former CEO of Cambridge Analytica, was in a managerial position at Emerdata for several weeks as well, but he was eventually replaced by Alexander Tayler, who previously worked as the chief data officer at Cambridge Analytica.

After the announcement, Britain's data regulator said it would continue civil and criminal investigations of the firm and will pursue "individuals and directors as appropriate" despite the shutdown. "They are party to very serious investigations and those investigations can not be impeded by the closure of these companies", said MP Damian Collins. Trump's campaign denies having used CA's data.

Cambridge Analytica sought information on Facebook to build psychological profiles on a large portion of the US electorate.

The company was able to amass the database quickly with the help of an app that appeared to be a personality test.

The data his firm used was reportedly gathered in early 2014 through an app called "thisisyourdigitallife", which was built by a Russian-American researcher at Cambridge University called Aleksandr Kogan.

The company at the centre of Facebook Inc.'s recent privacy scandal is shutting down.
