The previous record - seventh part of the franchise "Star wars" with the subtitle "the force awakens" - it took 12 days.

However, the film lost out to Star Wars: The Force Awakens which grossed an unbelievable $149 million in its second ever weekend. Today we learned the answer to that question, which is no, with Avengers: Infinity War easily taking the top spot with $112.4 million. The next Avengers film also topped "The power Awakens" into post the bestever USA opening last weekend. The second-highest North American grosser, new rom-com "Overboard", trailed in its distant wake at just $14.8 million.

Infinity War has already surpassed the global totals of The Dark Knight ($1 billion), The Dark Knight Rises ($1.09 billion), and Captain America: Civil War ($1.15 billion). After posting the biggest-ever opening weekend, the movie has now crossed $1 billion globally.

"Avengers: Infinity War" put another album that weekend, even destroying the box office contest and drumming up $1 billion more rapidly than every other film onto those novels. For its second ever weekend, the movie has made an estimated $112.5 million.

Coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce turns deadly
The California Department of Public Health confirmed the death but would not provide more details, citing patient privacy laws. With Kentucky, Massachusetts, and Utah now reporting cases, the number of states affected now stands at 25.

STX Films' comedy "I Feel Pretty", starring Amy Schumer as a self-conscious woman who suffers a head injury and then sees herself as ravishingly attractive, was fourth at $4.9 million.

In sixth place, "Tully", starring Charlize Theron, launched on 1,353 screens with $3.2 million.

Hollywood's summer movie season typically runs from the first weekend in May through Labor Day, but this year got a jump-start with the late April release of "Avengers: Infinity War".

While the three newcomers going up against Avengers: Infinity War weren't expected to provide any sort of meaningful competition, one did fare far better than expected.
