Facebook Rolling Out Stories Archive, Cloud Storage And Audio Posts

Users will see a new "Save" button at the bottom of their Story after their have recorded the video or taken the picture, via the Facebook camera. You won't have to use up your previous phone storage, and for the typical low-end devices which are sold in EMEA regions, storage is a precious commodity indeed. After a photo disappears from your story, you can find it in your story archive - a place only you can see.

Facebook is rolling out updates to its Stories feature.

Connor Hayes, Director of Product Management, Facebook Stories while announcing the new Voice Posts feature revealed how the company has been seeing users going creative to share Stories through audio and not video.

A third update lets users upload audio posts to their Facebook Stories, combining voice messages with a colored background and a photo. There is now no limit for a voice post that is shared to News Feed, but the recording time is restricted by the local storage on the user's device.

Is Facebook slowly becoming a "has-been"? It can also be used to save photos they might want to share later, so they don't have to edit or post them immediately. However, it is certainly a fresh thing for Facebook users and is created to let users start sharing their voice notes on the social networking platform. The aim is to make it more attractive to people who can't use Stories the way it is now - and therefore don't use it at all.

Facebook introduces voice posts, story archive options for users in India
Facebook's new India-focused features: Voice posts, Stories archive, and save photos for later

However, as it struggled to take off, the company at one point displayed grayed out icons in the Stories space in an effort to make it appear less empty. "The important thing that we've learnt from WhatsApp is that voice messaging is an increasingly popular way for people to communicate when they don't want to type up messages". If you share a voice post to Stories, it will disappear from your story after 24 hours.

Another interesting feature coming to Facebook's platform is voice posts.

During their journey in India, the Stories team found that photos and videos are not always the best way to share content. Users can post voice posts on Stories of up to 20 seconds.

These creations can be saved or posted to the Instagram feed, where they will become permanent like normal Instagram videos. There's no information on when the feature will be rolled out to iOS users.

And just earlier this month, Facebook added Snapchat-like animated filters to Facebook Live in Ireland.
