Joachim Low Announces His 23-Man Germany Squad; Leroy Sane Left Out

The 22-year-old played a crucial part in Manchester City's record-breaking Premier League title win last season.

Sane, who joined the English champions in 2016, had been a surprise addition to Germany's Euro 2016 squad two years ago but this time he was overlooked by Loew, who opted to take the more physical Julian Brandt to Russian Federation instead.

However, Low has expressed how having such strength can be a curse and spoke of the difficulty in denying so many quality players their World Cup dream.

At City, Sane is the one to finish moves, for Germany he is expected to start them, to contribute to the play in a way that Guardiola has demanded of Sergio Aguero.

Germany have included 2014 World Cup-winning captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in their final squad for the 2018 tournament, even though he has only just returned from a long-term absence through injury.

Sane will be able to get some well-earned rest ahead of the new season with the Citizens.

His global form, however, is much poorer - he's only provided one assist and is yet to score following 12 appearances with the national side.

"Leroy is a huge talent".

But apart from team-mate Kevin De Bruyne, no player in Europe's top five leagues had more assists than him.

Germany were reportedly turned off when Sane made a decision to snub last year's Confederations Cup in favour of having surgery on his nose.

Can you think of a better player who's staying at home?

Walker wrote: "When you find out Leroy Sane isn't going to the World Cup".

He also said dropping Crystal Palace's Christian Benteke was his "toughest decision".
