Portugal urged by Fernando Santos to hit ‘Euro 2016 levels’ against Morocco

Cristiano Ronaldo becomes Europe's all-time leading scorer in worldwide football as he registers in Portugal's 1-0 win over Morocco at the 2018 World Cup.

The Real Madrid forward scored his fourth goal in two games in Russian Federation as the European champions moved top of their group ahead of Spain's match against Iran.

Portugal faces off with Morocco in their second match of Group B play at the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation on Wednesday.

Portugal will meet Iran in their final group game on June 25, with Morocco set to bow out after their match against Spain in Kaliningrad.

Ronaldo's fourth goal of the tournament and record 85th for Portugal separated the two sides in the end.

Yet aside from the goal, it was not a vintage display by Ronaldo or Portugal, who were caused problems by a spirited Morocco team.

It was far from a convincing performance, but manager Fernando Santos and Co. came away with their first win at the World Cup and now sit in the drivers' seat in Group B.

GREAT AGAIN: Fed RAISES 2018 Economic Outlook, HIKES Interest Rates
The Fed anticipates that inflation will overshoot its 2% target this year; in March, officials saw that happening only in 2020. Powell was speaking at a press conference after the Fed announced its decision to raise interest rates .

Morocco, in their first finals appearance for 20 years, regrouped well and showed some real positivity in attack with Hakim Ziyech and Nordin Amrabat seeing plenty of the ball.

Portugal have been poor and other than the first goal, have struggled to get Ronaldo into the game. Let us know in the comments section below. "We hope that this will be Cristiano's World Cup as it would be a good sign for us then".

Morocco dominated its opening match against Iran but lost 1-0 on an own-goal by forward Aziz Bouhaddouz in stoppage time.

Morocco coach Herve Renard has expressed his satisfaction with his team's performance despite their ouster from the Russian Federation 2028 World Cup.

Too many of their shots flew wide, however, and the one time the North Africans did find the target with an effort of note, new Wolves keeper Rui Patricio produced a brilliant one-handed diving save to keep out Younes Belhanda's header.

Now 33 years old, Ronaldo knows that this summer's tournament in Russian Federation is most likely the last chance he is going to get to achieve glory with his nation.

"This is the World Cup, this isn't a circus".
