Suns make Bahamas' Ayton the top pick in NBA draft

Before Deandre Ayton was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the first pick of the draft, he had signed a multimillion deal with Puma.

Ayton, the 7-foot center who starred as a freshman at Arizona, was selected with the first overall pick by the Phoenix Suns, who kicked off the National Basketball Association draft at Barclays Center in NY with a selection that was widely expected entering Thursday night.

Webster and his boss Masai Ujiri are eager to make something happen, and wanted to at least start with a draft pick, but, as Webster repeated on Thursday, it takes two to tango. "I'm just happy to be a Phoenix Sun".

The first two picks in the draft went as expected - Deandre Ayton to the Phoenix Suns, and Marvin Bagley III to the Sacramento Kings.

Doncic, who recently won the Euroleague MVP award, travelled to NY just days after sealing the Spanish league championship with Real Madrid.

The Suns, were BAD last season.

"I've been talking to Dallas a lot", Doncic said. Eager to get their hands on the former Real Madrid star, the Mavericks took a massive risk when they gave up their 2019 first-round pick, which happens to be a top 5 protected pick. Ayton was the Pac-12 Player of the Year, averaging 20.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game.

So ask Nelson about a player the Mavericks clearly coveted heading into the draft in Doncic, and he'll choose his words carefully regarding the 19-year-old from Slovenia. The Phoenix Suns picked Deandre Ayton.

Phil Mickelson shockingly chases, swats moving ball with putter
Phil Mickelson just did something you do if you're four years old and playing mini golf for the first time. Round 3 of the tournament didn't bode well for Phil Mickelson . "I think he just snapped".

They started what could be an early run of big men in what's increasingly become a perimeter-based league.

"Reporters from league broadcast partners ESPN, Turner Sports and Yahoo will be prohibited from disclosing draft selections on social media before they are officially announced, according to multiple people with direct knowledge of the decision", the New York Times reports.

"Nikola's going to be here for a long, long time", Connelly said.

They need to decide whether or not they want Ulis on the team. One thing you were sure to hear about those players is the hard work and dedication they put into being the best they can be.

With concerns over back problems that limited him to only three games at Missouri last season, followed by a recent hip injury that he believe scared off teams, Porter ended up falling all the way to Denver at No. 14, the last lottery position. The steep price paid by Chicago to pick up a non-lottery selection from New Orleans (22nd overall) back in February also might have scared off potential opportunists.

The Phoenix Suns traded with the 76ers to get Villanova's Mikal Bridges in the first round.

Also selected in the bottom third of the first round were: Boise State forward Chandler Hutchison (22nd by Chicago), University of California Los Angeles point guard Aaron Holiday (23rd by the Indiana Pacers), IMG Academy point guard Anfernee Simons (24th by the Portland Trail Blazers), Michigan centre Moritz Wagner (25th by the Los Angeles Lakers), Wichita State guard Landry Shamet (26th by Philadelphia), and Bosnia & Herzegovina forward Dzanan Musa (29th by Brooklyn).
