United States indicts Russian intel officers ahead of Trump-Putin meet

President Donald Trump must seek a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end Moscow's interference in American elections, the top Democrat in the House of Representatives said on Friday after fresh indictments against Russian military officers.

Describing golf as "my primary form of exercise", Trump wrote on Twitter: "The weather is attractive, and this place is incredible!" "The weather is attractive, and this place is incredible!"

US President Donald Trump hopes that he will be able to reach an agreement on nuclear proliferation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I will absolutely, firmly ask the question, and hopefully we'll have a good relationship with Russian Federation", he told a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May.

The planned meeting with the Russian president has been heavily criticized since it was scheduled.

American intelligence agencies have concluded that Putin personally ordered a campaign to undermine "public faith in the U.S. democratic process" with the goal of hurting Clinton's candidacy and ultimately helping to elect Trump. "Pure stupidity", Trump said in an apparent reference to the special counsel's investigation stemming from Russian meddling in the 2016 election and the surrounding partisanship.

Regulators can deny or cancel licenses or tie up companies by launching tax, environmental or anti-monopoly investigations. It said Beijing would take unspecified "necessary countermeasures" to protect its "core interests".

"The administration has a pretty good policy towards Russian Federation, just the president doesn't agree with it", said Michael McFaul, a former USA ambassador to Russian Federation under Obama.

"President Trump has not taken damaging actions against North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, but his words are damaging", said Adam Thomson, a former British ambassador to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and now director of the European Leadership Network think-tank in London. "I don't think you'll have any 'Gee, I did it".

Trump has spent the weeklong trip wreaking havoc in Europe, first at a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels where he questioned the value of the decades-old alliance, and later in Britain, where he faced fallout from a stunning newspaper interview in which he undermined British Prime Minister Theresa May at an especially vulnerable time.

"I came to Edinburgh with my daughter to show her it's important to stand up against men like Trump", said Caroline Blake, 31, a beautician with her 4-year-old daughter.

In a separate letter sent last Monday, leading foreign-policy Democrats also urged Trump to hold Putin accountable for Russia's destabilization efforts, including election meddling.

North Atlantic Treaty Organisation may now need its friends in the U.S. Congress and in the Republican and Democratic parties to speak out more to prevent permanent damage to alliance's image in the United States, they said. The question remains: "how long will they continue to break this shameful comedy that disgraces the United States", the Russian statement, obtained by CNN, read.

Trump has also claimed Germany and others owe money to the United States and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, but allied contributions are voluntary and there are multiple budgets. All I can say is: "Did you?" But now Trump is under pressure - including from several members of Congress from his own party - to confront Putin about claims he tried to sabotage the election that put Trump in the White House.
