UEFA Nations League Report: England v Spain 09 September 2018

"In the second half we knew how to cope under pressure and that's an important thing for us, that we stuck together in tough moments like in the second half".

Before the game, England coach Gareth Southgate had warned that his team still had much to prove on the worldwide stage, claiming that the country's winning record against world football's elite has been "non-existent" since the World Cup success in 1966.

This was Shaw's first match for England since he was recalled to the national team by England manager, Gareth Southgate.

On Tuesday, Spain will tackle World Cup finalists, and Ramos is looking forward to a reunion with one particular club-mate.

"We'll go through some tests".

England were surprise World Cup semi-finalists in July, riding a wave of euphoria back home, but their 2-1 Nations League defeat on Saturday was their third consecutive loss.

In their first game post their summer-of-love, England succumbed in the new Nations League.

A witness to the caning, Thilaga Sulathireh of the group Justice for Sisters , blasted the punishment as torture. Malaysia is seen as a moderate and stable Muslim-majority country, but Islamic conservatism is on the rise.

"They are a top, top side and I think for spells kept the ball incredibly well, pressed us and we didn't keep the ball in the early part of the game well enough".

The Three Lions suffered a 2-1 defeat by Spain at Wembley last night.

The Manchester United left-back took to Twitter to reassure England fans of his condition following the game.

Shaw was stretchered off early in the second half after an aerial collision with Dani Carvajal but confirmed he was "doing fine" in the dressing room after the game.

The 23-year-old received six minutes of treatment on the field before being carried off on a stretcher, wearing a neck brace and an oxygen mask.

The Spurs marksman also endured a quiet end to the World Cup on a personal level, failing to score against Colombia or Croatia in the latter stages of the competition.

"At the time they were thinking about flying me back and, if I had flown back, then I would have probably lost my leg because of the blood clots and stuff in the leg".
