South Africa's top court legalises personal, private marijuana use

News24.com reported that the Constitutional Court ruling follows a similar ruling by the Western Cape High Court previous year which ruled that the private use and cultivation of dagga was not illegal.

The ruling also approved growing marijuana for personal consumption.

Pro-marijuana activists cheered in the public gallery and chanted "Weed are free now" when the Constitutional Court gave its landmark ruling.

SA's Constitutional Court has now handed down its own decision, which should be the final say in the matter: Forget 4/20, it looks like 9/18 will be a more significant number for South African smokers now.

The ruling means dagga can now be cultivated in private spaces for private adult consumption.

South Africa is a large source of herbal cannabis for the United Kingdom and continental Europe.

1st Private Moon Flight Passenger To Invite Artists On Board
Yusaka Maezawa has purchased every available seat aboard Musk's first BFR rocket that will travel to the moon as early as 2023. Before the BFR flies with people aboard it will make a number of test flights without a crew - including one around the Moon.

In the meantime‚ the court specified it has allowed "interim relief" that allows people to smoke dagga at home and grow enough for personal use at home.

"It has also ruled that Parliament must change sections of the Drug Trafficking Act, as well as the Medicines Control Act", stated at the report.

Celebrations broke out in the court, which was packed with marijuana advocates and members of South Africa's Rastafarian community. It's about time that South Africans move along with the times and start using what is most valuable.

The judgement did not say how much cannabis one may have at home for private use.

In Zimbabwe, Marijuana use and possession is still illegal although the government has allowed the farming of the drug for medicinal use.

South Africa is the third country in Africa to legalise cannabis, following Lesotho in September 2017, and in Zimbabwe in April this year.
