Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger Has Been Fired

Amber Guyger, the Dallas police officer who was off duty when she killed her neighbor, Botham Jean, in his own apartment, was sacked by Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall on Monday morning.

What is clear is that Guyger turned herself in to the authorities almost three days after she killed Jean.

Renee Hall said in a statement the department had dismissed Office Amber Guyger after almost five years on the job for her actions on the night of the shooting earlier in September, and for engaging in "adverse conduct" when she was arrested for manslaughter.

Guyger can appeal her firing through the city's civil service rules.

Guyger's case is expected to go to a grand jury. Hall also said Guyger had engaged in "adverse conduct" when she was arrested for manslaughter, without elaborating.

Guyger was charged with manslaughter in the killing; she is now free on $300,000 bond. Guyger was placed on administrative leave immediately after the shooting, but such discipline was not adequate when weighed with her actions, critics said.

Police executed multiple search warrants at Botham Jean's apartment in the aftermath of the killing, and investigators said they found several items, including a small amount of marijuana, FOX4 News reported.

Iran's elite Guards vow to avenge deadly attack
The victims of the assault included civilians and members of the elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). But it is unlikely the IRGC will strike any of these foes directly.

A Dallas police officer was arrested Sunday on a manslaughter warrant in the shooting of a black man at his home, Texas authorities said.

Guyger said she concluded her apartment was being burglarized and gave verbal commands to the person, who ignored them.

Neither document specifically states how close Ms Guyger was to Mr Jean when she shot him.

The door was slightly ajar as she tried to use her key, which has an electronic chip. Inside, the lights were off, and she saw a figure in the darkness that cast a large silhouette across the room, according to the officer's account. Gyger believed she was confronted with an intruder and proceeded to shoot Jean.

Protesters marched outside the Dallas Cowboys' stadium last week to demand the Guyger be fired and charged with murder. On the day of the shooting, Guyger's unit had arrested multiple suspects for armed robbery, he said.

The Dallas County medical examiner's office said Jean died of a gunshot wound to the chest.
