India crushes West Indies, enjoys home comforts

Apart from the first Test between India and Windies, not much has been happening in the world of cricket today.

Teenager Prithvi Shaw became the youngest Indian to score a century on Test debut as the hosts reached 232-3 at tea on day one of the first match against West Indies on Thursday.

Ravindra Jadeja, on 19, was batting alongside Kohli at the break. Number 10 and 11 were easy meat for Ashwin who sent them back with the away turning ball as West Indies were bowled out for 196.

Kieran Powell followed for one in Mohammed Shami's next over, lbw playing across a full-length delivery, as the Windies slipped further at seven for one in the fifth over.

In the first innings, Ashwin first removed Chase with a beauty, a flighted ball that turned in to create a big gap between bat and pad before crashing into the stumps.

The top order did not withstand the Indian bowling attack, as Shami accounted for both openers and then a horrendous mix-up saw Shimron Hetmyer run-out just when he looked to be settling.

Showing a penchant for counter-attack, Chase struck four fours - mostly lofted hits down the ground - in a breezy 38-ball knock while Dowrich was more watchful in his 35-ball innings.

Jadeja reached the landmark off the fourth ball in the 150th over, bowled by Kraigg Brathwaite.

Tail-ender Keemo Paul, in only his second Test, bludgeoned a four and a six in an unbeaten 13 to see West Indies to the close.

But Kohli went on to score his 24th Test hundred, second quickest after Don Bradman.

The record belongs to Anil Kumble who took four wickets on 66 occasions in a Test innings.

LIVE telecast of India vs West Indies 1st Test at Rajkot will be shown on these channels. He ended up with five boundaries and as many sixes.
