Melania Trump Shoved By Playful Baby Elephant In Kenya

She spent two days. She later traveled to Malawi where she took in a school lesson with children.

"Thank you for what you do and taking care of them", Trump told the orphanage's staff after learning more about the facility and the circumstances that brought numerous young children and babies to it. She was surrounded by babies either sitting in walkers or lying on their backs beneath play mobiles.

The US First Lady is on a four-leg tour of Africa promoting her children's welfare programme.

After the elephant feeding, she added the pith helmet to her outfit, and social media began to light up.

Melania read a story to the same group of children with applauses as another child read a story about the "lion and the mouse".

Trump met with her counterpart, Kenya's first lady Margaret Kenyatta, and attended a theater performance.

First Lady Melania Trump has so far been warmly welcomed on her tour of Africa, but a few demonstrators in Malawi took the opportunity to send her a message.

Weather Authority: Rain showers likely on Tuesday
Temperatures will cool by a few degrees Wednesday and Thursday with overnight lows reaching the 60s Thursday and Friday mornings. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy and warm (the mercury could hit 77 in Boston) with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

The famously private first lady is displaying a buoyant mood, which has been noticed around the world.

She went directly to Chipala Primary School in Lilongwe, where she watched teachers carry out lessons to help the students learn English and the Chichewa language.

Mrs. Trump also stopped to visit an ivory burn site, where the material has been destroyed to discourage the ivory trade.

Hours before Washington woke up, critics were pointing out how Trump - who is here representing a husband widely reported to have disparaged African nations as "shitholes" - had fumbled this segment of her visit. Another sign reportedly said "Welcome to Malawi". His administration has moved to lift a ban on some elephant trophy imports.

In one widely shared photograph, Donald Trump Jr poses with a knife in one hand and an elephant tail in the other, the animal's corpse beside him. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, who oversees the agency that lifted the ban, also is an avid hunter.

The US First Lady landed in Kenya on Thursday night and was received by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi County.

In the afternoon, Mrs Kenyatta hosted her U.S. counterpart at State House, Nairobi where they held discussions on their shared interests in areas of health and welfare of mothers and children as well as conservation.
