Beware of the message that will crash your PlayStation 4

Even scarier, others are experiencing the glitch simply by receiving the notification for the message.

Only one team member wasn't affected, apparently because he keeps his PSN messaging set to private.

PlayStation 4 owners around the world have been struck by a messaging bug, that makes the entire console crash, reports Kotaku.

Reddit users seemed to all have stories beginning similarly with "I was beating these guys in x online game" before they received the message.

To do this, you need to go into Account Management in your console settings, find the Privacy Settings subheading and flip the Messaging settings from "Public" to "Friends Only" or "No One".

The Debate - Trump Humiliating Saudi Arabia
The Saudi journalist had raised questions about the state of human rights and freedom of expression in the Gulf kingdom. In fact, President Trump chose to visit Saudi Arabia for his maiden worldwide trip as president previous year .

Reddit user Qraeshawn said: "I had a player named Zilla-Trickz that sent me 7 messages saying: Fortnite [] 3, but the heart was an emoji".

Another suggestion involves running a factory reset on your console, though you may want to look at that as a last resort. You can do this on your console, web browser, or smartphone app. From here, you can opt to receive messages from anyone, friends only, or nobody at all. Reports indicate that some PS4 consoles continue to operate unstably even after the message is deleted; in that instance a rebuild of the PS4 system database has been reported to fix any lingering issues.

The simplest solution to prevent this from happening in future is to turn off messages from folks you don't know.

With the bug only just coming to light, Sony has yet to officially confirm or respond to the problems, but presumably a software update is going to be enough to plug the security hole and protect against similar problems in the future.
