Again - Threatens to Send Military to US-Mexico Border

President Donald Trump has threatened to close down the U.S. -Mexico border if authorities in Mexico and Central American countries fail to stop the caravan, which has about 3,000 to 4,000 people.

President Trump's watching his worst nightmare unfold - more than 1,500 immigrants marching from Honduras to the USA, and he's vowing our troops will stop them. if Mexico can't get the job done. He also appeared to threaten a revamped trade deal with Mexico and Canada.

Mr Trump made the threat in a series of tweets, where he described the movement of migrants as an "assault on our country" by Central American nations, led by the Democratic Party.

President George W. Bush deployed the National Guard to assist in border security operations in 2006 and President Barack Obama did the same in 2010.

In part, the response is meant to both dissuade the migrants from even attempting to enter Mexico and potentially to show the Trump administration that Mexico is willing to, as the government put it, "maintain order".

Vigil said he believes Trump is partly to blame for the recent exodus from Honduras because of USA involvement in the country's contested presidential election previous year.

NBC reports that USA officials are now tracking that small group as they make progress towards the US.

A Honduran migrant holds a sign that reads in Spanish "Donald Trump".

"It's not in the interest of anybody to have those people make that trip", Gerónimo Gutiérrez, the Mexican ambassador to the USA, told Fox News, noting that "they're frequently tricked by human smuggling organizations".

In contrast to the earlier caravan, which moved deeper into the interior of Mexico before officials began intensive efforts to process the migrants, the Mexican government has focused on the new group right on its southern border with Guatemala.

The migrants hope to enter Mexico and cross the country to reach the United States.

A caravan of vehicles carrying more than 2,000 migrants left last Saturday from the northern Honduran city of San Pedro Sula after organizing themselves on social media. The UN's assistance is necessary "to avoid people being deceived by worldwide criminal organizations dedicated to human trafficking", the statement said.

Central American migrants hiked from Honduras through muddy jungle and residential streets, some toting babies along with backpacks, Reuters images show. Obrador is scheduled to take office on December 1, 2018.

Honduran migrants, part of a caravan trying to reach the US, line up to enter a migrant shelter in Guatemala City, Guatemala October 17, 2018.

"Whoever wants to work in our country is going to have support, is going to have a work visa", he said.

On Thursday, Trump referred to the caravan as an "assault on our country", citing "criminal elements and drugs pouring in".

"It was predictable, and it's also very close to the election".

Yesterday, the migrants made it to the Guatemala- Mexico Border.
