Jose Mourinho labels Paul Pogba a 'virus' in dressing room row

Jose Mourinho bemoaned a lack of "mad dogs" in his Manchester United team after the 2-2 draw with Southampton but praised the way his players staged another fight-back to salvage a point at St Mary's.

Saints found themselves 2-0 up at home to United on Saturday after just 20 minutes, with Stuart Armstrong and Cedric Soares getting the goals.

The Welshman, who spent two years with the club as a player towards the end of his career, replaced Mauricio Pellegrino in March and successfully steered Southampton to Premier League survival.

And Rashford set up Herrera for a gorgeous back leg finish with a powerful run into the right side of the box.

Pogba starting the game after being dropped against Young Boys in the Champions League midweek, however, he didn't look up to it.

Speaking after the match Mourinho said: "We lost so many balls in midfield and lost so many balls in our transitions to the final third".

Once the SWAT team arrived, they entered the home and found the man with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities say Cronin, who was shot multiple times, screamed for help and employees called 911 and attempted to intervene.

"We lost so many balls in midfield, we lost so many balls in our transition to the last third, it was hard to have that continuity. "(Not winning) has to do with the characteristics of the players. "In the second half we went back to that dynamic where we lost too many balls in midfield, when the players don't understand that simplicity is genius".

Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford also limped off against Southampton.

Once perched firmly on top of British football, United is a far cry from their glory days as they sit at seventh place on the league table with a negative goal difference after fourteen matches; and Saturday's draw at St.Mary's only compounded their plight.

Mark Hughes has been sacked by Southampton.

Southampton were denied a late victor as Nathan Redmond brought the best of out De Gea, leaving United sitting seventh in the table and with a negative goal difference.
