Trump charity shuts over allegations of misuse of funds

New York Attorney-General Barbara Underwood, a Democrat, said the Donald J Trump Foundation's assets would be distributed to charities vetted by her office.

Underwood said in a statement that the foundation had served as "little more than a checkbook to serve Mr. Trump's business and political interests", and called the agreement "an important victory for the rule of law".

In a statement commenting on the agreement, Underwood didn't hold back when describing the Trump Foundation and her work against it.

The foundation came under intense scrutiny during the 2016 presidential campaign when the NY attorney general took up an investigation into the entity that June.

The lawsuit is seeking restitution and the banning of the Trumps from serving on charity boards for a decade.

Underwood also said that Trump's three oldest children - Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric - had exercised no real control over the foundation's activities, despite being nominal board members. Under the terms, the Trump Foundation can only dissolve under judicial supervision - and it can only distribute its remaining charitable assets to reputable organizations approved by my office.

Mr Trump decried the lawsuit as an act of political revenge by Democratic state officials who were angry he had won the presidency and vowed to fight it and never settle. The book author even made a deal with The New York Times to feature the book's "research" in a front-page story that suggested Hillary Clinton had engineered approval of a uranium sale to Russian Federation for the benefit of foundation donors. It must now dismantle itself under a judge's watchful eye, with review and approval from the New York Attorney General's office.

Bellerin calf injury adds to Arsenal fitness woes ahead of Christmas fixtures
In goal Arsenal have Bernd Leno, while in defence Emery trusts in Laurent Koscielny and Stephan Lichtsteiner as the central pair. "We need to carry on in our way but it is not going to be easy to get into the top four".

The shuttering of Trump's charity comes after The Washington Post documented a series of apparent lapses at the foundation.

By then, Brad Parscale, the Trump aide who is already managing Trump's reelection campaign, had bamboozled voters with a wildly bogus comparison, as summarized in this June 2016 tweet: "Data doesn't lie: Clinton Foundation was "slush fund" while Hillary was a Senator/Secretary/Pres candidate".

Trump also reportedly bought two large portraits of himself for the foundation with the charity's money.

The state's lawsuit against the Trump Foundation spells out a range of alleged violations of laws concerning non-profit organisations.

President-elect Trump vowed to shut the charitable foundation down in December 2016, to avoid "even the appearance" of any conflict of interest. Underwood accused Trump of using his nonprofit as a personal checking account; the lawsuit is ongoing.

Charity established by the Trump family to shut down amid allegations of unlawful coordination with the campaign and improper charitable contributions.

In its most recent available filing with the IRS, in 2016 the foundation reported $2,929,274 in revenue and $3,075,269 in expenses.
