Impressive Federer gives Switzerland winning start at Hopman Cup

The holder of 20 major singles titles, Federer, who is eyeing third successive Australian Open crown called the upcoming game a "once-in-a-lifetime" match-up which he is waiting for with excitement.

Tsitsipas and Sakkari went down in the mixed doubles to Britain.

Swiss tennis great Roger Federer on Sunday routed Cameron Norrie of the United Kingdom 6-1, 6-1 to give his team the lead in their Hopman Cup Group B tie.

Norrie and Boulter defeated Greece on the opening day of the tournament in Australia, with Norrie's shock 7-6 (8) 6-4 victory over world No. 15 Stefanos Tsitsipas paving the way for Britain's victory.

Gearing up for his Australian Open title defense, Federer overcame three break points in his opening service game before rediscovering his rhythm to race out to a 5-0 lead.

"It's nice that I'm feeling as good as I am and I played a wonderful match against Cameron". He discovered his groove by dominating Norrie's serve and broke in the second game with a powerful cross-court backhand victor.

In the day's other match, Germany whitewashed Spain 3-0 with Angelique Kerber and Alexander Zverev coming through tight tussles with Garbine Muguruza and David Ferrer respectively.
