"I didn't know anything" about Manafort-Kilimnik polling contacts

Manafort spokesman Jason Maloni told the network the money was for work that occurred before the Trump campaign, and it was not in exchange for presidential campaign polling data. He entered a plea agreement with special counsel Robert Mueller on September 14, 2018, but prosecutors have since alleged that Manafort has violated the terms of the deal by lying about certain topics.

Jackie Speier, a Democratic member of the House Intelligence Committee, said the revelations raised new questions about possible "collusion" between Trump's election team and Russian Federation.

It is one of the strongest pieces of evidence yet that there was active cooperation between the Trump campaign and the Russian government's efforts to influence the 2016 election. On the eve of a second trial in Washington, D.C., the next month Manafort struck a plea deal with prosecutors. he agreed to fully cooperate with prosecutors and plead guilty to two counts of conspiracy in a separate case in Washington, D.C.

That information was included in a court filing this week that appeared to inadvertently include details not meant to be made public and indicates a pathway by which the Russians could have had access to Trump campaign data.

The defense lawyers said Manafort suffers from depression and anxiety, has had little contact with his family and, on days when he met with investigators, was awakened before dawn to have hourslong interviews with little time to prepare for the questioning.

The test at the disused airfield comes as no-deal preparations are ramped up amid bitter deadlock over Brexit in Parliament. Prime Minister Theresa May is trying to force her Brexit deal through parliament but lawmakers are expected to reject it.

Manafort provided the data to Konstantin Kilimnik, who is believed to have ties to Russian intelligence.

Giuliani also said on Wednesday that Trump's legal team told Mueller that the president will not answer any more questions in the investigation.

Paul Manafort arrives for a hearing at US District Court on June 15, 2018 in Washington. Russian Federation and Ukraine have been locked in a conflict since 2014 over Russia's annexation of Crimea.

The lawyers also said they reserved the right to fight back if Mueller brought new charges surrounding the allegations that Manafort lied to prosecutors.

"Such a failure is unsurprising here, where these occurrences happened during a period when Mr. Manafort was managing a USA presidential campaign and had countless meetings, email communications, and other interactions with many different individuals, and traveled frequently", the Manafort attorneys argued.
