Kamala Harris Enters 2020 Presidential Race

Harris, a former California Attorney General, elected to the Senate in 2016, joins a growing field of Democratic hopefuls.

In a video released Monday morning as she made her announcement, Harris explains her interest in launching a campaign, detailing values such as "truth, justice, decency, equality, freedom [and] democracy", which she says are "all on the line now".

Aware of the importance of African Americans - who make up over 50 per cent of Democratic primary voters in some states - she has recently broadened her message of a "rigged" economy to include an attack on systemic racism.

Vowing to "bring our voices together", Harris would be the first woman to hold the presidency if she succeeds. Staffers said her timing, and the design and colour of her campaign logo, were a nod to Shirley Chisholm, the NY congresswoman who sought the Democratic Party's presidential nomination 47 years ago this week. "Let's claim our future, our ourselves, for our children and four our country".

It appears she has her work cut out, however, as a recent NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll found that 54% of Democratic primary voters were unsure of, or had never heard, of her. Her slogan will be "For the People", in a nod to Harris' roots as a prosecutor, aides said. At least on Twitter, she's no match for the current president. The question has become an early litmus test for what's expected to be a sprawling field with a record number of women. "The thing about Dr King that always inspires me is that he was aspirational. like our country is aspirational", Harris said on GMA. Senators Cory Booker of New Jersey, Sherrod Brown of OH and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota are also looking at the race.

It is expected to be a crowded Democratic primary race, the victor of which would grab the party's nomination and challenge President Donald Trump in the November 2020 presidential race.

Windows 10 October update is finally rolling out to everyone, again
Potentially, its surface phone project, "Andromeda", could potentially be canceled as the company moves on to other ventures. It's even worse if you own a Microsoft Lumia or Lumia XL: June 11, 2019 will be the last date those devices are supported.

U.S. Senator Kamala Harris announced her candidacy for President of the United States in an interview today on ABC's "Good Morning America" and in a teaser video on her social media accounts.

US Senator Kamala Harris speaks with survivors of sexual assault and supporters as they protest against Judge Brett Kavanaugh's nomination as an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court in 2018. She is also the first African-American candidate to enter the race, and her campaign rollout speaks to that significance: Her announcement comes on Martin Luther King Jr. "You get into some of those swing states like Florida and OH and what not that would commend her, somewhat".

"I was raised that, when you see a problem, you don't complain about it, you go and do something about it", she said on "Good Morning America" on January 8.

During her last visit to Iowa, Harris fondly recalled her days campaigning for her longtime friend Barack Obama in 2008 when she was the relatively unknown district attorney of San Francisco. Harris, a staunch opponent of President Trump, previously served as Attorney General of the State of California.

One person wrote: "If you support Kamala Harris, you don't think trans people are people, and you wouldn't even hesitate to throw them under the bus".

As California AG in 2016, Harris won a $1.1 billion settlement against the now-defunct for-profit Corinthian Colleges for its abusive predatory lending practices that left tens of thousands of students in student loan debt after receiving "useless degrees".
