Trump to Call on Democrats to ‘Heal,’ and Bashes Pelosi Over Wall

The president says that existing sections of walls should be extended along the border to stop what he describes as an uncontrolled invasion of criminals.

President Donald Trump criticized Nancy Pelosi's negotiating style as "rigid" and accused the House speaker of refusing to fund his proposed border barrier simply to "win a political point".

Trump said at a White House event that he might declare such an emergency because it did not appear that Democrats in Congress were moving toward a deal that would provide the money he wants to help fund the wall, which Democrats broadly oppose.

Earlier he took to Twitter to say that whatever happened, he'd get the wall built. "I think there's a good chance we'll have to do that".

At least six GOP Senators are reportedly against declaring a national emergency, but the president could veto a disapproval resolution if one was sent to his desk. "I think you'll find it very exciting", the president said.

Trump expressed doubt Democrats and Republicans will be able to come up with a border security deal that includes funding for a barrier or wall by February 15.

"It's very hard to do human trafficking through ports of entry because you have people standing there saying hey what's going on in the backseat, what's going on in the trunk".

Moscow: No Evidence of INF Violations as US Suspends Obligations Under Treaty
It was the first treaty to ban an entire class of weapons: ground-launched cruise missiles with a range between 500 and 500km. The dispute is aggravating the worst U.S. -Russia frictions since the Cold War ended in 1991.

"We will be looking at a national emergency because I don't think anything's going to happen".

Trump, ahead of the CBS interview that was taped Friday, had suggested he could announce that he is taking executive action to build the wall during Tuesday's annual State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress.

"Basically she wants open borders".

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, a top McConnell confidant, said this week that he is opposed to a national emergency declaration in part because of what it might embolden a future Democratic president to do.

Trump will also address foreign policy issues during his speech, including the United States trade war with China, the situation in Venezuela and the ending of USA involvement in conflicts overseas, the administration official said.

He questioned whether the US should have invaded Afghanistan in 2001 under the administration of former President George W. Bush to destroy al-Qaida training grounds after the terrorist group's attacks on the USA killed almost 3,000 people. We have an unbelievable and expensive military base built in Iraq.

"Excuse me?" Trump asked. "When you see today what's going on, people that aren't willing to do what they have to do, and they know what they have to do, they're doing the country a tremendous disservice".
