Former Jets center Kevin Mawae elected to Football Hall of Fame

Former Michigan (1992-94) and longtime NFL cornerback (1995-2009) Ty Law was one of eight inductees selected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday night.

Like Bailey and Reed, Tony Gonzalez is a member of the All-Decade team of the 2000's.

He'll be donning the yellow jacket this summer alongside Gonzalez, and three players who spent part of their careers trying to stop the groundbreaking tight end. In his career, he had 64 interceptions returned for an NFL-record 1,590 yards and seven touchdowns.

In 13 playoff games, he had another six interceptions, including one touchdown. Law was a five-time Pro Bowler and was named an All-Pro in 1998 and 2003.

FORECAST: Light snow showers possible this weekend
A weak disturbance passes through the area today, bringing a chance of light snow or flurries in the afternoon. This Cold Warning will remain in effect until the low temperature for the day is projected to be above -15°C.

Mawae, who played eight seasons with the Jets, also spent time with the Seahawks and Titans. Mawae was known for his leadership and was a member of a number of strong offensive lines.

Reed is the first pure safety to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility since Ken Houston in 1986. His 15,610 total yards from scrimmage ranks 11th all-time among running backs, and is more than Hall of Fame backs Eric Dickerson, Jerome Bettis and Jim Brown. In his tenure as Broncos owner, Bowlen's teams amassed seven Super Bowl appearances and three titles (Super Bowls XXXII, XXXIII and 50). Safety Johnny Robinson made the Hall as a seniors finalist, and Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and former Cowboys executive Gil Brandt were picked as contributors. Brandt helped build one of the most dominant franchises in sports along with Hall of Famers Tex Schramm and Tom Landry.

Brandt was the Cowboys' vice president of player personnel from 1960-88, which included two world championship seasons.

Drafted in the first round by the Redskins out of Georgia, Bailey would ultimately become most famous for being a part of the rare National Football League blockbuster trade (pre-salary cap explosion anyway), with the Redskins shipping him to Denver in exchange for Clinton Portis. He also won Super Bowl XLVII with the franchise. He led the AFL with 10 interceptions in 1966 and did the same in the National Football League in 1970. The Texans became the Chiefs, and the Chiefs became Super Bowl champions.
