E-cigarette explodes in user's face, killing him

A Fort Worth, Texas man has been killed after an e-cigarette blew up in his face and severed a major artery as he vaped for the first time.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office says shrapnel from the explosion severed his left carotid artery and peppered his skull.

Alice Brown told the news outlet that her grandson told her he had to go to pick something up for his auto and stop at the bank, but that he made a pit stop to buy a vaporizer pen on the way home.

"It just all seems so unreal", she told the news outlet. "That three-piece thing went into his throat and stayed there", she continued. Covered in blood, her grandson searched for help and was eventually taken to a hospital, where he died two days later.

A Texas man died after his vape pen exploded.

William Brown died two days after the January 27 explosion, which sent shrapnel into his neck and skull.

Malfunctioning e-cigarette batteries have caused hundreds to thousands of similar injuries, U.S. reports say.

Brown was sitting in his vehicle in front of a vape supply store on the 4500 block of Golden Triangle when his pen exploded, Alice Brown said.

New Zealand vs India on February 6
Shaheen Afridi, who came into prominence in last year's ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand , is also among those to benefit. The five-match ODI series has solved a part of the puzzle as India look to finalise their ICC World Cup 2019 squad.

"He popped it and it exploded, and that's when it shot across his mouth", she told WFAA. None of those injuries resulted in death, according to the report.

He also suffered burns on about 80 percent of his body.

He had asthma and had been told that there was a certain vape pen that could help with his symptoms.

But he was never operated on, KTVT reported.

Brown was rushed to the hospital and his family told KTVT that he was put into a medically-induced coma and that x-rays showed that part of the e-cigarette was lodged in his throat. "Improved surveillance of e-cigarette injuries and regulation of e-cigarette devices is urgently needed", Thombs wrote.

Electronic cigarettes, or vape pens, are battery-operated devices that heat a liquid to generate vapor - which may contain nicotine - that users can inhale.

The Food and Drug Administration has warned vaping device users that there is evidence that "battery-related issues may lead to vape explosions".

An e-cigarette is being blamed for the death of a Fort Worth man, CBS Dallas reports.
