Karl Lagerfeld Dead: Donatella Versace Leads Tributes To Chanel Creative Director

A pampered French cat who eats off fine china, has two personal maids and works as a model will be among the heirs to the vast fortune of Karl Lagerfeld, the fashion designer who died today aged 85.

The Times called him "a fashion polyglot, able to speak the language of many different brands at the same time".

Lagerfeld - dubbed "Kaiser Karl" and "Fashion Meister" among a whole host of media monikers - was born in Hamburg to a German mother and a Swedish father who imported condensed milk.

Chanel said the reins of the $12.7-billion empire had been handed to Lagerfeld's right-hand woman, his head of studio Virginie Viard. We were always learning from you'.

French celebrity online magazine Purepeople said Lagerfeld died on Tuesday after being taken to hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine outside Paris the night before.

Karl Lagerfeld was at the counter in his trademark black sunglasses, his white hair slicked back into a ponytail, and the collar on his shirt standing at attention.

In 2018, Lagerfeld defended stylist Karl Temper, who was accused of pulling down models' underwear without consent: "If you don't want your trousers pulled about, don't become a model! We owe him a great deal: his taste and talent were the most exceptional I have ever known", Bernard Arnault, the chairman and CEO of LVMH, said in a statement.

Lagerfeld apprenticed at Balmain and in 1959 was hired at another Paris-based house, Patou, where he spent four years as artistic director.

Pulwama Terror Attack: Pakistan Writes to UN, Seeks Intervention to 'De-escalate' Tension
Kashmir has always been a hot point between the two countries with India accusing Pakistan of supporting militants in the region. The global community is well acquainted with the reality that Pakistan is the nerve center of terrorism , the statement said .

A photographer who shot ad campaigns for Chanel and his own eponymous label, Lagerfeld also collected art books and had a massive library and a bookstore as well as his own publishing house.

Added Victoria Beckham: "So incredibly sad to hear this".

Rest in peace Karl Lagerfeld.

"The death of this dear friend deeply saddens me, my wife and my children".

While at Fendi, Lagerfeld helped create the notion of fun fur, lending an ease to a formal wardrobe topper by adding stylised touches. She also once said: "I love to please him, but also surprise him", and described him as "very sensitive, like all creative people, but very faithful, generous - which might not be what people would guess".

One of the first American stars to pay tribute to Lagerfeld was Kim Kardashian, who mourned him in a tweet as "a true legend".

This was the reason for which he's been missing important fashion shows.

"Karl, your creativity and imprint on fashion will live forever", racecar driver Lewis Hamilton tweeted.
