New York Times on Trump's attack: 'It's dangerous'

Former acting Federal Bureau of Investigation director Andrew McCabe on Thursday sought to further downplay the discussion in which he says Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein broached using the 25th Amendment to oust President Trump from office, asserting that Rosenstein was merely "thinking off the top of his head".

US President Donald Trump executed a sustained attack on those investigating him over the past two years, according to a new report.

Al Jazeera's Patty Culhane has the latest from Washington.

Mr. Berman had recused himself from the probe because he is a Trump appointee and had donated to the president's 2016 campaign.

"The phrase "enemy of the people" is not just false, it's unsafe".

A Justice Department inspector general report ― the conclusion of which McCabe disputes ― found that McCabe lacked candor about authorizing a subordinate to talk to the press for a story during the 2016 campaign. He previously said that "no one objected" when he informed the group of the opening of the probe into Trump.

Previous US presidents "had complaints about their coverage and at times took advantage of the freedom every American has to criticize journalists", Sulzberger said.

Veterans Affairs Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould resigns from cabinet
The scandal is now being looked at by Federal Ethics Commissioner , Mario Dion. Wilson-Raybould's letter does not say exactly why she's quitting.

"In demonizing the free press as the enemy, simply for performing its role of asking hard questions and bringing uncomfortable information to light, President Trump is retreating from a distinctly American principle", Sulzberger said, devoid of any analysis that the media also has a responsibility to examine its ethics, sourcing and accuracy. "But we certainly follow normal reporting practices, and went over it at length with both the White House and the Department of Justice".

"More fake news", Trump told reporters.

"The issue would be if Trump directed his attorney general to tell the USA attorney in NY to ignore his recusal and take over the investigations that impact Trump", McCarthy said on Outnumbered Overtime. Investigators have examined key episodes such as Trump's firing of Comey and Trump's fury over Attorney General Jeff Sessions' recusal.

Besides his direct criticism of the Times, Trump also tweeted on Wednesday that "the Press has never been more dishonest than it is today".

Meanwhile, a judge granted a request by Mr Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen to delay the start of his prison term by two months so he can prepare to testify before Congress.

Rep. Don Bacon: Well I think some of the individuals the president brought in did violate the law, so they're being punished for it.

Nadler, a New York Democrat, sent a letter to Whitaker last week asking him to clear up some of his answers, saying that committee members found his testimony "unsatisfactory, incomplete, or contradicted by other evidence".
