300 cars gutted in major fire at Air Show, no injuries reported

The Aero India 2019 was temporarily suspended during the onset of the fire and no planes took off from the nearby airbase until the fire was put out. Hundreds of vehicles, including two-wheelers and cars, were seen parked in files in the open ground, surrounded by fire.

The report states that the fire could have been started by a lit cigarette that was disposed of carelessly onto a dry grass field.

Aero India, that was limited to officials, businesses and foreign delegations, media and restricted invitees for the past three days, was thrown open to public on Saturday.

"Today morning around 11:55 hrs a fire broke out at one of the Parking Areas of AeroIndia2019".

The likely cause of the fire is dry grass and strong wind.
