Police issue warning after reports of 'Momo' Challenge resurface

"The challenges issued in this game present a serious risk to the safety, welfare and well being of young people in our school and in the United Kingdom".

"We have spoken with children without frighting them, which is the key".

I'd encourage parents to talk with children about apps and games to better understand what they might be exposed to'. The Ash Field Academy in Leicester, England, also tweeted a warning for parents, and Haslingden Primary School in Rossendale, England, shared a similar message on Facebook.

These videos reportedly specifically target children in Peppa Pig and Fortnite clips.

The rise of the Momo challenge has led to National Online Safety, an organisation that provides online safety educational resources and courses to schools, to list seven tips for parents anxious about their children's online safety.

"Don't focus only on Momo, but make sure you know what your child has online access to".

In a letter sent home to parents, he said: "My intention, as ever, is not to frighten the children, but to educate them about the dangers associated with the world wide web and social media so they can make themselves safe".

A spokesperson for the NSPCC in Northern Ireland said: "The constantly evolving digital world means a steady influx of new apps and games and can be hard for parents to keep track of".

Kardashian's warning comes as police in Ireland issued a warning on social media about the online game.

Isis bride 'should be tried in the Middle East'
In a recent interview with The Times newspaper, Begum said she had previously lost two babies to illness and malnutrition. Her family's lawyer, Tasnime Akunjee, said he anticipated she would face criminal proceedings upon any return to the UK.

Education safeguarding advisor for Kent County Council, Rebecca Avery, posted advice on The Education People - a trading company for the council - about the challenge.

Due to this, we advise that you flag and report any material you deem to be inappropriate or harmful as soon as you come across it.You should also block the account/content to prevent your child from viewing it. The next time parents are faced with sharing an all-caps horrifying warning about a boogieman out to get their children, they need to consider their own role in creating the monster before clicking share.

Many people are believed to have self-harmed - and even taken their lives - after being sent disturbing and graphic photographs.

With reports like that, parents are concerned.

As a parent it is natural to feel anxious about certain things you see online that may be harmful to your child. However, not everything you see online is true.

This Momo video on YouTube scares me bec my 9 year old cousin watches videos on YouTube A LOT.

Her video about the "Momo Challenge" has 2.3 million views.

A YouTube spokesperson has since addressed the deadly trend, writing, "Our Community Guidelines prohibit harmful and risky challenges, including promoting the Momo challenge, and we remove this content quickly when flagged to us".
