Cummings suggests House panel could seek interview with Trump Jr

Adam Schiff, the chairman of the House intelligence committee, separately announced on Thursday that the former Trump associate Felix Sater will come before his panel on 14 March.

President Donald Trump claimed Friday that his former lawyer Michael Cohen shopped a book to publishers that portrayed Trump in a favorable light, vastly at odds with Cohen's damning testimony to Congress.

During Cohen's testimony, for example, he was asked about reporting by the "Trump, Inc." podcast that the Trump International Hotel in Washington overcharged the Trump inaugural committee.

The committee on Wednesday became the first congressional panel this year to hold a public hearing involving a key player in the issues surrounding Trump, his former longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen.

Based on who was mentioned in the hearing, possible witnesses could include Weisselberg and two of the president's children, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump.

If they were named by Cohen, "they have a good chance of hearing from us", Cummings told reporters on Thursday, adding decisions have yet to be made by Democrat leadership whether individuals would be called, and whether for private interviews or public hearings. Mueller's findings and those of the congressional committees may influence whether Congress seeks to impeach Trump and remove him from office.

Republicans seeking to discredit Cohen also seized Friday on a video clip that has recently resurfaced from a November 2016 appearance by Cohen on CNN. "They could have made it two days later or next week", he said. He also pleaded guilty to fraud and campaign finance violations.

House Financial Services Chairman Maxine Waters, D-Calif., said she also wanted to investigate another allegation by Cohen: that Trump had directed a $15,000 speaking fee, owed to him personally, to his foundation instead.

"The financial guy, the guy Trump has to turn to every time he wants to spend more than 50 bucks, that's the guy who's best placed for an investigator to turn to", Cotter, who has extensive experience prosecuting organized crime, told INSIDER.

Journalist Jorge Ramos' equipment seized at Maduro interview
According to Zamora, Univision's news executives were able to find out what happened because "Jorge managed to call us". But "in the middle of the call, they took his phone away", Zamora said .

"I wonder why he didn't lie about that too like he did about everything else".

Cohen also testified privately before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday.

When U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, an Illinois Democrat, asked Cohen if he was aware of "any other wrongdoing or illegal act regarding Donald Trump" that hadn't been discussed at the hearing, Cohen said "yes", but he couldn't talk about it. Following his guilty plea, Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison.

"While testifying under oath", the Jordan-Meadows referral avers, "Cohen made what appear to be numerous willfully and intentionally false statements of material fact contradicted by the record established by the Justice Department" in Cohen's convictions. Delaney Kempner, a spokeswoman for New York Attorney General Letitia James, said the office was "reviewing Michael Cohen's testimony carefully to determine if it will impact any ongoing proceeding or investigation that the office is undertaking".

He said prosecutors in NY were investigating conversations Trump or his advisers had with him after his office and hotel room were raided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation last April.

In a statement, Sekulow called Cohen's comments "completely false".

In other tweets Friday, Trump suggested Democrats were using Cohen to investigate his business dealings and finances because a two-year investigation into possible coordination between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign "has fallen apart".

"Your heads will spin when you see the lies, misrepresentations and contradictions against his Thursday testimony", Trump wrote. On Wednesday, he testified that Mr Trump, Mr Trump's son and Mr Weisselberg all participated in an attempt to repay Mr Cohen, under the guise of a non-existent retainer agreement.
