Jussie Smollett indicted on 16 counts for false police report

In a statement to Fox News on Thursday, a spokesperson for the force confirmed that "an internal investigation has been opened".

Smollett's attorney has previously slammed the police department over its investigation and claimed the leaks were an attempt to skewer the Empire actor.

The Chicago Police Department is trying to figure out who within their department leaked critical case information to the press during the Jussie Smollett investigation, ABC News reports.

The grand jury returned two indictments for Smollett, one stemming from his initial report of the attack and another from a second interview he gave police.

"I would like to point out that a lot of the information out there was inaccurate and there were numerous agencies involved in this investigation".

The MCAS is an automated safety feature on the 737 Max created to prevent the plane from entering into a stall or losing lift. It comes as Ethiopia's transport minister confirmed the black box from the plane is in good condition.

Earlier today, the hospital where Jussie Smollett checked himself into after his alleged attack fired dozens of staff for unauthorized access to the actor's medical records. All she did was scroll past it on a computer while looking for another patient's information, she said. Police say Smollett orchestrated a fake hate crime attack with the help of two brothers in late January. Nevertheless, she said, the hospital didn't want to hear her side of the story, and she thinks the same thing happened to other employees who were recently terminated.

According to one nurse who was sacked following the incident, she never accessed Smollett's records, but merely scrolled past them as she was searching for another patient. Smollett was then arrested and released on a $100,000 bond.

He said the attack "was staged, the brothers had on gloves during the (air quotes) "staged attack" where they punched him a little, but as far as we can tell, the scratching and bruising that you saw on [Smollett's] face was most likely self-inflicted". Smollett has since been charged with staging the whole incident.

The blast radius from the alleged racist and homophobic attack on Jussie Smollett continues to grow - and we don't mean the actor's future onEmpire or his next court appearance.
