Pentagon says India debris expected to burn up in atmosphere

National Aeronautics and Space Administration administrator Jim Bridenstine had described the test as a "terrible, terrible" thing.

"400 pieces of orbital debris from the test have been identified, including debris that was traveling above the International Space Station which is a bad, awful thing", Reuters quoted NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine as saying Monday.

To questions on the debris created by the test, Dr. Reddy said extensive simulations were conducted and there was no threat to the International Space Station (ISS).

The Ministry of External Affairs in a statement stated that the technological test was carried out to verify that India has the capability to safeguard its space assets. He said that even NASA has claimed that the risk was for 10 days which are over today.

"Even though the interceptor has the capability to intercept at the altitudes of more than 1000km, it has been very specifically created to have an interception below 300 km to ensure the safety of space assets and also that debris there decays very fast", he said. India has the capacity to hit target up to 1000 km and the test was intentionally held at a lower height. "From our simulation, we can very clearly say that the possibilities of (debris) hitting the ISS are not there", Reddy said. On Thursday, Bridenstine had reportedly promised to continue its cooperation with the Indian Space Research Organisation.

Decisions on the weaponisation of space would be taken by the government, Reddy said. "The satellite is tracked by many stations across the world".

We made a formal referral to federal law enforcement on December 20th, 2018, based on the accuser's extortionate demands. She only reported the alleged attack to police Thursday and apparently was in discussions for $68,000 in hush money.

India in late March joined the ranks of U.S., Russian Federation and China by successfully targeting live satellite on a low-earth orbit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had hailed the A-SAT test's success as "an unprecedented achievement" that makes India a "space power".

Shanahan said last week he believed India had avoided a similar scenario by testing at a lower altitude.

After entering into the elite space club with "Mission Shakti", rubbing shoulders with bigwigs like the US, Russia and China, India is all set to take a giant leap by sending 100 satellites into space by 2025.

Nearly all the technologies used for the ASAT test were indigenously developed with some 50 industries contributing components for the 13 metre missiles weighing 19 tonnes. "As we explained, in 2014 the discussions on this started and in 2016, a presentation was given to the highest office".
