Nintendo: 34.74M Switches Sold, No Plans for New Hardware at E3

Analysts expected 350 billion yen of operating profit, but Nintendo only achieved 260 billion yen.

The Wall Street Journal even recently claimed the existing Switch console, which launched in 2017, could be modestly updated with "enhanced features targeted at avid video gamers", though Bloomberg specifically noted that "a more powerful version" isn't now in the works at Nintendo.

Nintendo managed to sell a healthy 2.47 million Switch units in the quarter that ended 31 March, with total sales hitting 34.74 million. Today, Nintendo UK uploaded a special release date trailer and also revealed the game's pre-order incentives for both digital or physical edition customers. After all, should the Big N eventually put out a smaller Switch in 2019 that focuses exclusively on the system's portability, the company could cater primarily to on-the-go gamers and manage to continue cornering that niche market where the Nintendo 3DS has succeeded.

Easter weather: bank holiday temperatures could break United Kingdom records
The weekend is forecast to remain warm and sunny, although there may be some cloud on Easter Monday and it will be cooler. The UK's warmest Easter temperature was the 29.4C recorded at Camden Square in London on Easter Saturday in 1949.

Yesterday saw the release of Nintendo's Fiscal Year 2018 results, and late last night President Furukawa and other Nintendo execs sat down with investors for a presentation and Q&A. Each system has huge attach rates-even the Wii U with its paltry 13.5 million sales managed to achieve over 100 million software sold in its lifespan-and some, like the DS line, moved almost 1 billion games.

Digital software sales on Switch brought in ¥118.8 billion ($1.06 billion), an 95.4% increase year-over-year (yoy). Also, just because it doesn't plan to announce new console skus at the event doesn't mean new offerings aren't in the works.
